Final removal will probably need to wait until 23.7 or beyond. Realistically, there is no way this is ready for the 22.7 release, especially considering there seems to be little to no interest in spending time on it. What we need now is a quick update to the plugin select an interface to monitor, and a call to the community to help test and build out the missing providers. Some admission of this, and a commitment to resolve it is what we are looking for. Every Dynamic DNS service in OPNsense supports IPv4, but few have ' (v6)' equivalents. It’s clear that the deprecation notice was added prematurely, and the replacement is half-baked, at best. You can’t even select an interface to monitor. The front end experience is trash, and major providers are missing from the list. This isn’t a case of a few fringe providers not being present. The state of the ddclient plug-in today, shipped with the latest release, represents a very significant removal of features that a great number of users rely on every day. So far, what we’ve seen is “calm down”, “fix it if it’s so important to you”, and “ I can’t be bothered to bring feature parity.” This isn’t an ok response, and seems pretty atypical from an otherwise normally responsive and great team. I am very surprised by the reaction of the developers to this.
